That would be WWV in Boulder, Colorado operating on 5, 10 and 20Mhz. I use that station to calibrate all my electronic signal generators. I use a commercial synthesized receiver going from 10kHz to 30Mhz for that to heterodyne and listen/look for zero beat frequency re WWV and let's say the time bases of my generators. Once there is zero beat the oscillators are dead on.

No household has a cesium frequency standard - way too expensive. It is a nice 19" rack mount box though! Hewlett Packard builds them among others.
References :
Nothing to do with a PC.

There is a radio station in Colorado that broadcasts a standard time signal that can be picked up in most of the US.

The clock receives that radio signal and synchronizes to it.

Can't get it in New England, however.

How do household atomic clocks work?
I know household atomic clocks sync with a real atomic clock somewhere, but how does it work? Is there a radio signal broadcasted? Do you have to sync it with a home computer?
